IRESS Web Services
Introduction
A Web Service is a unit of application logic providing data and services to
other applications. It is accessible to any number of potentially
disparate systems through the use of Internet standards, such as XML and HTTP.
The IRESS Web Services allow clients to obtain, via the Internet:
- real time prices,
- security information,
- dividends information,
- news headlines and stories,
- historical pricing data,
- and charts.
Most of the output from these services is in XML format, making it easy for clients to this output as input to their own web sites or backend systems.
